I am sharing some causes here that will mostly directly impact Buenaventura following the earthquake emergency, while also keeping in mind other places in Valle del Cauca and Chocó that need help too.

They have provided shelter to families who lost their homes in Buenaventura and delivered relief kits containing safe drinking water, non-perishable food, mattresses, mosquito nets, personal hygiene items, and bed sheets. Working alongside Save the Children, they are reaching many families in Buenaventura who still need support. Their priority in the long term is the reconstruction of Buenaventura. Laura Benitez is raising funds to buy construction materials based on technical assessments from architects and engineers, helping her neighbors and her father’s house. Beyond reconstruction, funds also cover food, safe drinking water, clothing, and basic necessities.

Until Buenaventura is fully rebuilt, I will keep contributing wherever help is needed. As of August 12, we have raised a little over $4,200 USD, which has been allocated to purchasing medicine, rebuilding homes and supporting families in the port of Buenaventura, and rebuilding Fanny’s house in Juanchaco.
