I am Damaris Molina, a woman committed to social and environmental change in Colombia.
My work focuses on promoting social justice, inclusive education, and environmental conservation, always with a sustainable and equitable approach.

I have led initiatives to ensure access to educational resources without gender or social barriers, such as distributing books and technological devices, empowering children with the tools they need to learn and connect with their culture and nature.

Music is another cornerstone of my work, facilitating access to instruments in communities like Juanchaco, promoting personal development and strengthening cultural identity.

I also actively participate in environmental awareness campaigns, working towards reducing plastic consumption and protecting our key ecosystems, such as coastlines and mangroves.

Every project I lead aims to build more equitable, resilient, and sustainable communities. I believe in the power of collaboration and that every action contributes to a fairer and more sustainable future for all.

I invite you to join this collective effort for a better world, where equality and respect for nature are the foundations of our progress.

SOME PROJECTS

Cellphones for Children in Juanchaco

On August 22, 2022, I delivered 40 cellphones 📲 with the support of the #PowertoEmpower program by @motorola_col to the children of Juanchaco in Buenaventura 🌴.

With these cellphones, they will have access to their classes, 📚 be able to do their homework 🤓, and also take photos of flora and fauna species 🦎 from one of the most biodiverse places in the world.

This initiative aims to use technology as a tool for species conservation in the region, where many are endemic, and there might still be limited information about their existence. It also aims to facilitate access to education for the youngest. With these devices, we will contribute to feeding the database of this paradise through participatory science.

Community Library for the Archipelago of La Plata

In January 2020, 545 books, including textbooks and stories that didn’t establish gender roles, were delivered to the community of the Archipelago of La Plata. This initiative began with the mothers of the community who wished to provide access to education and ensure their daughters wouldn’t limit their dreams simply because they were girls. This project aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals to eradicate poverty, guarantee the right to education, reduce the gender gap, and address inequalities in a country like Colombia.

This endeavor was firmly rooted in the belief in the transformative power of education. Through education, it’s possible to enhance the quality of life in many regions of the country, creating better opportunities and fostering the ingenuity and resilience that characterize us as Colombians.

Marimbas for Juanchaco

Music heals, and in times of peace, it’s crucial to involve the youngest to script a different story.

On October 6, we delivered new musical instruments to the community of Juanchaco after achieving our goal in the crowdfunding campaign #MarimbasParaJuanchaco.

Our commitment is to preserve this African heritage, now recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage, and promote these activities among children to provide them with better opportunities in their future. Music plays a crucial role in this region of the country because, apart from being part of their ancestry, it serves as an escape and an opportunity to develop commitment and discipline, qualities vital for the proper development of children.

The Pacific is All of Us” TripTrip Colombia. Bahia Malaga

An event we organized alongside 8 travelers who chose to explore the Colombian Pacific and contribute to the community. We conducted two days of garbage collection, one in the mangroves and the other on the beach, aiming to raise awareness among both tourists and locals, ultimately reducing plastic consumption in their daily lives.
